Following the expansion of LLR’s Security, Defense & Government Services practice and the opening of a Washington D.C. office, Global Security Finance interviewed Jason Rigoli for his perspective on investing in these sectors.
His key points included: – Highly differentiated cyber security services will remain attractive, part of the reason we chose to invest in Cigital, a software security firm.
– Trends in digitization of physical security are attracting a rising number of deals, especially when they involve analytics, cloud access control and cyber.
– Private equity firms with niche expertise in government services play an important role in providing growth equity and sales/marketing assistance to the businesses being spun-off larger organizations serving the government sector.
– Despite double digit growth in cyber security, the industry is still in a very early stage. Valuations and buyer appetites are healthy, and the government has deemed it mission critical, helping drive innovation and a growing number of cyber companies near Washington, D.C.
