LLR Healthcare Summit 2017

November 10, 2017

In November 2017, LLR hosted its annual Healthcare Industry Dinner & Summit, bringing together more than 90 thought leaders and executives for discussion of critical industry topics and networking. Just one year after the Presidential Election, the event examined the impact of the new administration on healthcare along with other key industry topics including practice management 2.0 and hospital joint ventures.

The by-invitation summit was established to foster collaboration among LLR’s extensive industry network – including portfolio management teams and other healthcare executives, seasoned operating advisors and industry influencers – around key issues impacting growth for healthcare businesses.

More than 90 healthcare executives and influencers gathers in Philadelphia to address critical industry issues impacting growth and quality of care.

The 2017 summit kicked off with cocktails, dinner and networking at Philadelphia’s Mütter Museum. During the dinner, Stan Blaylock, a two-time LLR-backed CEO, was presented with the LLR Partner of the Year Award for embodying LLR’s core values of partnership, collaboration and value creation.

The next morning, an engaging keynote was delivered by Michael Smerconish, Host of The Michael Smerconish Program on SiriusXM, Host of CNN’s Smerconish and Contributor, Newspaper Columnist and Best-Selling Author. The Healthcare Industry Summit also featured a presentation from Chris Chandler, Managing Director of Investment Services at KLAS, on current healthcare IT trends.

Moderated by Greg Bellomy, Senior Operating Advisor for LLR Partners and Chief Strategic Growth Officer at BAYADA Home Health Care, this year’s first panel discussion tackled Hospital Joint Ventures. It featured Stan Blaylock, CEO, Physicians Immediate Care (LLR portfolio company); Dr. Mark Lyles, Chief Affiliations and Business Transformation Officer, Medical University of South Carolina; Steve Mason, former CEO and President, BayCare Health System; and David Yhlen, Vice President of Ambulatory Services & Administrator, Bridgeton Health Center at Inspira Health Network.

Stan Blaylock, CEO of urgent care platform Physicians Immediate Care, shares his experience managing hospital joint ventures.

The second panel addressed Physician Practice Management 2.0, with input from Dr. Joe Calabro, Founder and CEO, Physicians’ Practice Enhancement; Cecilia Montalvo, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer and President, Summit Medical Group, P.A.; Rod Roeser, CEO, Eye Health America; and Dr. Eric Schweiger, CEO, Schweiger Dermatology (LLR portfolio company).

The summit was sponsored by Cain Brothers and McGuireWoods LLP. For further insight, Cain provides additional commentary on issues and trends impacting healthcare businesses in Cain Brothers’ Comments, and McGuireWoods offers a compilation of private equity firms investing in healthcare at The Healthcare Investor. As both firms’ content refelcts, private equity interest in healthcare has grown dramatically in recent years, offering the industry undeniable opportunities to fuel growth and causing investors to look more deeply at new niches, many of which were discussed and represented at the LLR Healthcare Summit.
